EMS (Molecule)
EMS - Molecule's Site-Level Execution Environment
EMS is Molecule Systems' site-level execution environment, available in two configurations: edge-based (real-time, deterministic control at the site via MOS350) and cloud-based (virtual EMS for API-connected devices). The edge configuration provides local execution, autonomous operation, and sub-second telemetry-ideal for ancillary services and pay-for-performance programs. The cloud configuration manages 1000+ DERs without hardware deployment-ideal for API-connected fleets (Tesla Powerwall, cloud-based inverters). Together, they enable hybrid VPP architectures: edge control where it matters (critical sites, high-value programs), cloud control where it's sufficient (basic TOU, low-latency-tolerant programs).
How Molecule Systems Relates
EMS is Molecule Systems' execution environment for site-level control, offering the flexibility to choose edge-based or cloud-based control per site based on program requirements. The edge configuration is ideal for high-value programs requiring sub-second telemetry, while the cloud configuration handles API-connected fleets without hardware deployment. Most real-world deployments use both in a hybrid architecture.
