Clean Peak

Clean Peak

Clean Peak is a regulatory framework that incentivizes batteries to discharge during periods when the grid is running on fossil fuels (high carbon intensity), thereby displacing dirty generation with stored clean energy. California's Clean Peak Standard requires utilities to shift load to solar-heavy hours (midday) and discharge batteries during the evening ramp (5-8 PM) when natural gas plants typically come online. Clean peak optimization aligns battery dispatch with grid carbon intensity, maximizing clean energy impact and qualifying for incentive adders (like SGIP Equity Resiliency bonuses). Clean peak revenue: $100-$400/year for residential systems, on top of other value streams.

How Molecule Systems Relates

Clean Peak/Carbon Intensity Optimization is one of six revenue streams in DividendVPP's value stack. Molecule's edge execution layer aligns battery dispatch with real-time grid carbon intensity data, maximizing clean energy displacement and qualifying for incentive adders like SGIP bonuses - revenue that most VPPs miss because they lack the dispatch precision to optimize for carbon intensity.
