API
Application Programming Interface
An Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of protocols and tools that allow software applications to communicate with each other. In VPP context, APIs enable cloud-based integration with devices like Tesla Powerwall (API-connected), third-party DERMS platforms, utility dispatch systems, and ISO market interfaces. RESTful APIs (using HTTP requests) are common for VPP applications: send a dispatch command (POST request), retrieve telemetry (GET request), or update device configuration (PUT request). Molecule's MOS 350 supports API-based device integration (for cloud-connected DERs) and exposes APIs for fleet management and dispatch control.
How Molecule Systems Relates
Molecule's platform supports API-based device integration for cloud-connected DERs (like Tesla Powerwall) via the EMS cloud layer, and exposes APIs for fleet management, dispatch control, and telemetry access. The Optimization SDK provides API reference documentation for developers building custom integrations.
